Welcome to our world of enchantment and strategy, where the allure of Magic the Gathering, especially the Commander format, binds us together. As a close-knit group of friends, we’re on a mission to share our passion for this enthralling game with the world, diving into its fascinating intricacies along the way. Whether its our MTG podcast or a blog post, we have a lot to say about the game we love. Let us introduce ourselves.
Meet Duncan, our seasoned magician, whose journey began in the era of the Revised edition. Despite a hiatus after the Homelands block in 1995(and after that set, who would blame him?), his zeal rekindled in 2017 with Commander. Known for his mid to high-level decks, Duncan dabbles in competitive EDH but his heart lies in the realm of casual play. A master of control, his strategies often revolve around the cunning use of blue, with Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur reigning as his all-time favorite card.
Sloan, our eclectic deck builder, embarked on his MTG adventure in 2004. A brief pause in college only intensified his love for the game, leading him to Commander in 2013. His decks are a testament to his versatility, embracing everything from janky and untraditional builds to tribal and aggressive strategies. For Sloan, every color and combination is a canvas for creativity.
Then there’s Jeff, the tactician of value and tribal themes. Jeff got into MTG in college around 2006, and stopped after college. He was introduced to commander format around 2014, and he instantly enjoyed the casual format and being able to utilize all his cards. But it’s not just about the cards for Jeff; he thrives in the political intrigue that comes with every game, maneuvering through alliances and rivalries with skillful diplomacy. He also loves playing Magic with his kids.
Join us in this magical journey, where friendship, strategy, and a touch of whimsy come together in the spellbinding world of Magic the Gathering. Let’s explore the endless possibilities that this game has to offer, together.
